Getting enough sleep is vital to our general wellbeing, but, a lot of people have sleep problems. If you are one of those people, then you will find this diy sleep balm helpful!

Bedtime can be a little … challenging for many people. Whether you have a rambunctious child that is not ready to wind down for the night or you suffer from insomnia, due to different reasons, sleep, often does not come quickly or easily.

But sleep is a vital part of a healthy lifestyle, and lack of sleep can be very damaging to your health if it continues over an extended period.

Many people rely on taking sleeping pills every night to summon a few hours of interrupted sleep.

But, these sleep pills (prescription and over-the-counter) actually do more harm than good.

They are very addictive, not to mention their negative impact building up over time.

I have been there, so I know how dangerous these pills can be. I used to have chronic insomnia in the past. It was really bad and there were nights I couldn’t get up to 1 hour of sleep.

Tired and desperate for sleep, I did what most people with insomnia do…. sleeping pills.

Even though I didn’t like how the pills made me feel (they made me feel woozy and unproductive the next day), I kept taking them because I thought I had NO other choice.

But I did have BETTER and SAFFER options, I just didn’t know about them. You don’t know what you don’t know I guess! Fortunately, I do now and this diy sleep balm is one of these options.

Natural Sleep Aids

I started using natural remedies for sleep because not only did the sleeping pills made me feel woozy, they stopped working after a while.

At first, I wouldn’t sleep without popping a pill; it even got worse because I had to continually increase the dosage to get the pills to work!

It was a horrific experience! But luckily I was introduced to natural remedies and I couldn’t be happier.

Although I still struggle to fall asleep once in a while, I no longer have chronic insomnia… thanks to natural sleeping aids.

Diy Sleep Balm Recipe

I infused the oil used with chamomile. One of the ways that I usually summon sleep is with a warm cup of chamomile tea. But did you know that chamomile can be infused and added to a herbal sleep balm? I find it effective, and thus have added it to this recipe.

This recipe also uses two essential oils that I find helpful. Lavender essential oil, which is well-known for its calming effect, and orange essential oil, a powerful antioxidant that also has a calming impact and promotes peace and tranquility. I find that by adding these two essential oils I can create a highly therapeutic herbal sleep balm that helps induce a restful night’s sleep for me.

What You Need for the Diy Sleep Balm

Instructions

  1. Heat your carrier oil in a glass container in the microwave until melted. (If using liquid carrier oil, you still need to heat.)Diy Sleep Balm Recipe for Insomnia (with Essential Oils)! (7)
  2. Place your Chamomile tea bag in the hot carrier oil until oil turns yellow and fragrant, then remove bag. (I suggest leaving for up to an hour in oil)
  3. Next, melt your beeswax in a glass container in the microwave.
  4. Once Beeswax is completely melted, mix your carrier oil with your beeswax and stir until completely combined.
  5. Add in the Vitamin E Oil to the Carrier Oil and Beeswax mixture.
  6. Let oils cool for a few minutes before adding the essential oils. (When the bowl is not hot to the touch, add the essential oils) Stir well.
  7. Pour into clean container.

If you need your homemade sleep balm to harden quicker, place it in the refrigerator for approximately 15-20 minutes.

Rub generously on your pulse points and the bottoms of your feet and enjoy a restful night.
